The next race of the 2014 ACC Race Series will be the Blast the Mass XC Course on Wednesday, July 2nd.
PARTY: The race will be followed by a sponsored party hosted by the New Belgium Ranger Station. The Ranger Station is located on The Snowmass Village Mall near Fanny Hill. The party will start around 7pm. Complimentary appetizers and 1 free drink will be provided.
REGISTRATION: Advance registration is not required. Racers can register and pay at Base Village between 5:00 and 5:50. No registration available after 5:50. Entry fees are $5 for ACC members and $10 for nonmembers. Prepaid members must check in before the race start.
PARKING: Free parking is available at the Base Village Parking Garage
THE COURSE: The start/finish is located in the new Base Village. SMA/VMA riders will head up the Dawdler Work Road to the water plant and intersect the Village Bound trail (LEFT TURN). This singletrack will continue onto K.A.R. briefly and then intersect the Thorton Work Road. Riders continue up this road to Ullrhof Restaurant where they will pick up the Cross Mountain Trail. Take the Cross Mountain Trail to Government Trail (Traditional Entrance), then go left down Anaerobic Nightmare. Riders then go LEFT on the Tom Blake Trail and take it to Faraway Road. Climb left up the paved Faraway Road for 100 yards then go right on Tom Blake Trail. Continue to make your way to base village on Tom Blake and follow course markings ultimately descending Easy Rider to the finish back in Base Village.
Sport/Masters/ Women/HS/MS Riders will race a SHORTER LOOP. Riders will head up the Dawdler Work Road to the water plant and intersect the Village Bound trail (LEFT TURN). This singletrack will continue onto K.A.R. briefly and then intersect the Thorton Work Road. Riders continue up this road to Ullrhof Restaurant where they will pick up the Cross Mountain Trail. Take the Cross Mountain Trail to Easy Rider to the finish back at Base village.
The course will be marked on race day and is subject to small changes from description. Please listen carefully on race day to the course directors and instructions. Also, please consider having friends marshal. (see below) The more volunteers we have at key intersections the more smoothly the race runs. Thank you for your help!

KIDS: A shortened course on fanny hill will used for a Kid’s event. Please encourage kids age’s 6-13 to come out and ride this popular and exciting course—registration is free but a waiver must be signed.
MARSHALS: Several marshals are needed for next week’s race. Marshal points will be awarded to members who give their time and effort to marshal. 30 points for the first race you marshal and 15 for all subsequent marshal days. MEMBERSHIP: Registration for membership in the Aspen Cycling Club and purchase of season long race packages is again available online through PreRace.com. Please visit http://www.prerace.com/races/event/46225/2014-Aspen-Cycling-Club-Membership to sign up. Online registration will close at 12:00 PM on the Tuesday before each race to allow us time to prepare all of the start and membership lists. To save time at registration during your first race, we encourage everyone to sign up online AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Online registration is preferred, but if you don’t choose this option, come to the start with your completed form and remember to bring your entry money. For your first race of the season, please arrive early to allow plenty of time to complete registration and pick up your race number. Registration opens at 5:00 PM and closes at 5:50 PM.
CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event of inclement weather on race day, the Aspen Cycling Club Board of Directors will communicate with the race director to determine the club’s ability to operate a race that is reasonably safe for competitors and for mountain bike races, preserves the integrity of local trails. All racers should assume that a final decision will be made at the start line by the race director. However, when possible, the Board of Directors will alert racers of a race cancellation prior to the start by emailing the club email group, posting on the website and the ACC Facebook page by 5 p.m. PLEASE DO NOT PHONE OR TEXT THE RACE DIRECTOR FOR RACE CANCELLATION INFORMATION.
