We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to encouraging participation in bicycling at all levels. The Club sponsors weekly races, both on and off road. We also work with local governments and bike shops in self-regulating the use of our local trails and roads for responsible bike usage.

Snowmass Circuit – Road Race

Date: Tuesday, September 10
Location: Owl Creek Road at the entrance to Two Creeks Base Area, Snowmass Village.
Start Time: 5:30pm
Event Type: Road
Course Description: The classic Snowmass Circuit road race starts near the entrance to Two Creeks Base Area on Owl Creek Road in Snowmass Village. At the start, racers will head west on Owl Creek Road and make a right hand turn onto Brush Creek Road for a fast decent. After the descent, racers will make a sharp right-hand turn through the roundabout onto a climb up Highline Road, then make a final right-hand turn back to the Start/Finish on Owl Creek Road. Each lap is approximately 3.7 miles in length.

NOTE THAT THE FIRST WAVE STARTS AT 5:30PM TO ACCOUNT FOR SUNSET TIME

Wave 1: 5:30 PM – 3 LAPS – All categories except Men’s A, Women’s A, Men’s B
Wave 2
: At conclusion of Wave 1 (~6:05) – 5 LAPS – Men’s A
Wave 3: Three minutes after Wave 2 (~6:08) – 5 LAPS – Women’s A, Men’s B

Reminder:  *** since this is a road race on open roads, Middle School racers are NOT ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE***

Warm-Up: Please do not warm up on the race course after 6:00pm. After that time, please ride toward Aspen on Owl Creek Road. Be respectful of traffic and property during your warmup. Do not block cars, and do not urinate in public. If caught urinating, you will be disqualified from the evening’s race. Plan accordingly.

Race Day Sign-In: Everyone must sign-in at each race regardless of membership level. Race day sign-in will take place from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the start of the race (unless specifically noted otherwise). Race numbers are issued for each discipline for the entire season. Bring your number to every race – lest you have to wear the handwritten Number Of Shame! Race day entry fees are free for juniors and full members, $20 for non-members.

Prince Creek MTB Race

Date: Wednesday, May 15,  2019

Location: Prince Creek Trail System, Carbondale. Parking will be at Roaring Fork High School. Registration will be near start line—allow time to ride to the start (3 miles).

Start Time: 6:00pm

Event Type: Mountain Bike – FREE EVENT

Course Description:

The short course will be a loop on the Prince Creek Trails. The long course will add on an additional loop. Riders will start at the new parking area, the “Bull Pen”. Riders will start on the road for a bit and get on the single track at Tybar Ranch Gate (left off road). Climb on the Prince Creek trail and continue climbing Monte Carlo trail. Riders will rejoin the Monte Carlo trail at the new BLM campground. Climb single track to BLM 8320/Porcupine Traverse, then turn left onto BLM 8320 and follow it to Highline Trail. Turn right on to Highline Trail, follow Highline to BLM 8320, turn right and climb BLM 8320 to Trough. Descend Trough to South Porcupine. Turn left on South Porcupine and then turn right onto Ginormous. Descend Ginormous. Turn left after Ginormous onto Monte Carlo and climb Monte Carlo through to BLM 8320/Porcupine Traverse again. Turn left towards Highline again. Short Course: Finish next to Highline gate at base of Highline. Long Course: Climb through Highline again then continue up BLM 8320 to Father of Ginormous. Riders will descend Father of Ginormous through the extension (watch out for trail changes). After the descent, long course riders will turn left again up prince creek trail to porcupine traverse and finish next to the Highline Gate.

Wave 2: Time 6:03 – Long Course – Women’s A, Men’s B

Wave 3: Time 6:05 – Short Course – All other categories

Parking Info: Very limited parking is available at the Prince Creek Trails. Please park at Roaring Fork High School and ride to the start line (about 25 minutes at an easy pace).

Race Day Sign-In: Sign in and/or paper registration takes opens at 5:00pm at the START LINE. From parking at the Roaring Fork High School to start line on Prince Creek Road is about 25 minutes at an easy riding pace. The Prince Creek MTB Race will be free of charge for all racers.

Warm-Up: Please do not warm up on the race course after 6:00pm. After that time, ride on Prince Creek Road below the start area. Be respectful of traffic and property during your warmup. Do not block cars, and do not urinate in public. If caught urinating, you will be disqualified from the evening’s race. Plan accordingly.

Castle Creek presented by The Aspen Times (Road)

The 2019 Castle Creek Road Race is presented by The Aspen Times.

Date: Wednesday, July 17, 2019
Race Name: Castle Creek
Location: Register at Aspen Valley Hospital parking. Race starts on Castle Creek Road near the Music Festival campus.
Parking: Do not park at AVH. Please park in Aspen and ride to registration.
Start Time: 6:00pm
Event Type: Road
Party: There is no party this week.

Course Description: This 22 mile road race features about 2,000 feet of elevation gain over the rolling terrain of Castle Creek Road. The race will be staged near Music School Road off of Castle Creek Road. The race will proceed approximately 11 miles up Castle Creek Road past Ashcroft and the Pine Creek Cookhouse to the end of the County Road and the turn off to Pearl Pass. From the turn around, proceed back down Castle Creek Road 10 miles, and at about mile marker 3.5 and get ready for an uphill finish at the top of the hill opposite South Hayden Road. All categories will use the same course.

Wave 1, Men’s A: 6:00pm

Wave 2, Women’s A, Men’s B: 6:03pm

Wave 3: All other categories: 6:06pm

Smuggler Hunter Creek XC – MTB Race

Course Description:

Long Course: Take Smuggler Mountain Road to Behind the Sign (BTS) Trail, turn left at Picnic Loop. Turn left onto Lollipop, stay right on Lollipop, turn left on Lollipop Cutoff, right onto Lollipop Cutoff and right back onto Lollipop. Follow Lollipop Extension to Iowa Shaft Cutoff and turn right, then follow Iowa Shaft Shortcut and turn right on Hunter Creek Valley South Trail. Continue onto Hunter Creek Valley Trail. Turn left onto Hummingbird and climb up Upper Hummingbird. Turn right onto Hunter Creek Road and continue up to 4 Corners. At 4 Corners turn left then turn onto Secret Trail and continue to new Upper Plunge Trail. Turn left and descend Upper Plunge Trail, cross Red Mountain Road, and descend Lower Plunge Trail. At the bottom of Plunge, keep right onto Hunter Valley North, and continue to the finish line at connector trail to Hunter Valley South.

Short Course: Take Smuggler Mountain Road to Behind the Sign (BTS) Trail, turn left at Picnic Loop. Brush Creek–Deadline–Tom Blake – Mountain bike

Location: RFTA Intercept lot, Brush Creek Bike Path
Party: Post Race Party at Slow Groovin BBQ
Start Time: 6:00pm, please be prepared for cold and possibly darker conditions at the finish.
Course Description: Riders will begin at the Brush Creek Intercept lot and ride the Brush Creek Bike Path toward Snowmass Village, then turn onto Ditchline, ride Viewline to Deadline, turn right onto Deadline, and descend to Highline Trail. Riders will then turn left onto Highline Trail and ride down to Owl Creek Road and cross to Tom Blake Trail (traffic marshals will be in place for the road crossing). Riders will follow Tom Blake all the way to Funnel Work Road where you will make a sharp left and then go up the road  25 meters to the finish on the work road. You will finish under the Elk Camp Gondola. See revised map for details.
