Special start time for Masters/Sport/Women and Juniors – 5:30 PM, to allow for a longer race!
The next Aspen Cycling Club road race of the 2013 season takes place on Wednesday, July 3rd starting at a special start time, 5:30 PM. This classic ACC race will be held at the Woody Creek Raceway courtesy of the Aspen Racing and Sports Car Club. No access to the track is permitted prior to 5:00 PM. Please be cooperative and courteous to Aspen Racing and Sports Car Club personnel and please be intelligent about how you park! The turnoff to the track is on McLain Flats Road, about one quarter of the way up the W/J hill from the Woody Creek Bridge and Jaffee Park. The track, typically used for local sports car racing, is approximately 1.1 miles per lap with gently rolling terrain on each seven corner lap. Start Times and Race Times
Field starts for this race occur in heats. The first group off will include all Senior Women A’s, Citizens (“C’s”), Masters, and Juniors at 5:30 PM for a 30 minute race. After this race concludes, the Vet Men A will race at approximately 6:15pm for a 40 or 45 minute race. The final group of the evening will be the Senior Men A starting at approximately 7:10 PM and racing for 45 minutes. Further details, including duration of races, will be provided at the START. Race Finish and Placement
This is a difficult race to score. As with other ACC races, finish order is done by visual spotting by race officials and volunteer marshals. Please be sure to check in after your race with the finish marshals to confirm your finish order! Confirming finish order improves accuracy and expedites and simplifies production of results. We do everything we can to try to place people correctly and need your help to make this happen.
Eight (8) marshals are needed in order to put on this event. Please encourage friends and family to assist with this spectator friendly race. ACC points will be awarded to members who give their time and effort to marshal. 30 points for the first race you marshal and 15 for all subsequent marshal days. No experience required. Race changes and/or cancellation due to inclement weather will be announced at the start.
All area riders are encouraged to come out and race. Advance registration is not required. Racers can register and pay at the START between 5:00 and 5:50. Pre-paid Vet Men A and Senior Men A can check in before their race. Entry fees are $5 for ACC members and $10 for nonmembers. Prepaid members must check in before the race start.
The Aspen Cycling Club celebrates Summer Solstice (a couple days early) with the longest road race of the season!
The next Aspen Cycling Club race of the 2013 season takes place on Wednesday, June 19th at 6:00 PM. The Basalt-Norrie Road Race is a classic road course that heads up the Frying Pan River valley and above Ruedi Reservoir. Registration and the start are 2.5 miles up the Frying Pan Road, east of Basalt. Start order will be Senior Men A at 6:00 pm, followed by Vet Men A two minutes later, and Senior Women A and all Citizens, Masters, Juniors three minutes later. The route for the Senior Men A and Vet Men A features 3,000 feet of climbing with a turnaround about 25 miles from the start at Norrie Colony – total distance for SMA & VMA – 48 miles! Senior Women A, Citizens, Masters, and Juniors will turn around at mile marker 17, just above the reservoir. Race distance for this start group is about 28 miles. All racers will finish approximately 4 miles east of Basalt. To assist with timely and accurate results, please confirm your finish placement after this and all road races with the marshals. This is particularly critical for any pack finishes.
Following the Basalt-Norrie race, the Aspen Cycling Club is sponsoring a party at Cuvee Bistro, located at 305 Gold Rivers Ct. in Basalt. Racers and race marshals will receive a free appetizer and beer or wine. A discount is being offered for those who wish stay for dinner. Come by after your race to celebrate the summer solstice and another great season of riding!

The Aspen Cycling Club is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization that promotes mountain bike and road bike races for both experienced racers and those new to the sport. Snowmass Circuit Road Race-New Belgium Ranger Station Party
The next Aspen Cycling Club road race will be held Wednesday June 5th at 6:00 PM. The classic Snowmass Circuit road race starts near the entrance to Two Creeks Base Area on Owl Creek Road in Snowmass Village. At the start, racers will head west on Owl Creek Road and make a right hand turn onto Brush Creek Road for a fast decent. After the descent, racers will make a sharp right hand turn through the roundabout onto a climb up Highline Road, then make a final right hand turn back to the Start/Finish on Owl Creek Road. Each lap is approximately 3.7 miles in length.
After the race, head up the hill for a party hosted by our new sponsor, the New Belgium Ranger Station. The Ranger Station is located on The Snowmass Village Mall near Fanny Hill. The party will start around 7pm. Complimentary appetizers and 1 free drink will be provided.

Lots of Marshals are needed to hold this race! Ten (10) marshals needed! The Snowmass Circuit Race is the Aspen Cycling Club’s most marshal intensive race of the season with numerous circuits on open roads and with many intersecting driveways and roads to be controlled. We need help! Please encourage friends and family to help marshal this race. No experience required, friends and family greatly appreciated! This is a great race to watch as a marshal as you get to see the riders 3 to 5 times per race!

Yellow Line Rule: The yellow line rule will be in effect for the Snowmass Circuit Race and all ACC races! This means no passing Snowmass Shuttle buses and other vehicles! If vehicles impede your race, all competitors must follow such vehicle until they pull over or turn off!
