The Aspen Cycling Club is celebrating Summer Solstice by hosting the longest road race of the season!
The next Aspen Cycling Club road race of the 2014 season takes place on Wednesday, June 25th at 6:00 PM. The Frying Pan Road Race is an ACC classic not to be missed! A post-race party will take place at the Riverside Grill in downtown Basalt immediately following the finish.
Registration/Start line- Registration and the start line are located at a large dirt pull-out 2.5 miles east of the town of Basalt on the Frying Pan Road. Registration will take place between 5:00 and 5:50 pm.
Race Route/Start Times/Groups– From the start, the course continues east on Frying Pan Road towards Ruedi Reservoir.
Senior Men A start at 6:00 pm, Vet Men A at 6:02 pm: For these two groups, the race features approximately 48 miles of racing and 3,000 feet of climbing. Riders climb to Ruedi Reservoir, descend towards Meredith, and then continue climbing to a turnaround point about 25 miles from the start at Norrie Colony. From this point, the course is reversed. All racers will finish near mile marker 4, east of Basalt.
Senior Women A/All Citizens and Masters/ High school-Middle school 6:05 pm:This group will also head east towards Ruedi Reservoir climbing past the dam to a turnaround at mile marker 17. From this point you will reverse the course finishing near mile marker 4, east of Basalt. Race distance for this group is about 28 miles.
Following the Frying Pan race, the Aspen Cycling Club is sponsoring a party at Riverside Grill, located at 181 Basalt Center Circle in Basalt. The party will begin around 8 pm. Racers and race marshals will receive a free appetizer and beer or wine. Food and daily specials will also be available at an additional cost for those wish to stay for dinner. Come by after your race to celebrate the summer solstice and another great season of riding!
ACC Jackets– Also at the Riverside Grill party, we will be selling the new Aspen Cycling Club jackets. Cost is $75 for members and $95 for non-members. Please bring cash or check if you are interested. Quantities are limited and they will sell out fast!
Ten (10) marshals are needed in order to safely put on this event. Please encourage your friends and family to help marshal this event and stay for the party! No experience required. Races won’t run smoothly without volunteer marshals! ACC points will be awarded to members who give their time and effort to marshal. 30 points for the first race you marshal and 15 for all subsequent marshal days. Online registration will close at12:00 PM on the Tuesday before each race to allow us time to prepare all of the start and membership lists. To save time at registration during your first race, we encourage everyone to sign up online AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Online registration is preferred, but if you don’t choose this option, come to the start with your completed form and remember to bring your entry money. For your first race of the season, please arrive early to allow plenty of time to complete registration and pick up your race number.
CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event of inclement weather on race day, the Aspen Cycling Club Board of Directors will communicate with the race director to determine the club’s ability to operate a race that is reasonably safe for competitors and for mountain bike races, preserves the integrity of local trails. All racers should assume that a final decision will be made at the start line by the race director. However, when possible, the Board of Directors will alert racers of a race cancellation prior to the start by emailing the club email group, posting on the website and the ACC Facebook page by 5 p.m. PLEASE DO NOT PHONE OR TEXT THE RACE DIRECTOR FOR RACE CANCELLATION INFORMATION.
